StartupYard presents new batch of seven

Prague-based accelerator StartupYard recently announced the names of the teams in their spring 2014 mentoring programme. During the past month, seven startups from different countries have met entrepreneurs, professionals and CEOs to learn about realistic business plans, effective presentations and how to meet the needs of their customers. Now the teams are ready for the real world and will continue to work on their ideas and products on their own account. On 18 June, StartupYard will organise a Demo Day where all teams will present their startups and products – some of them already launching. Here you can find a short outline of the seven chosen startups from Romania, Czech Republic, Kosovo/Albania, Serbia and Kazakhstan.

Now the teams will continue to work on their ideas and products on their own account. On 18 June, StartupYard will organise a Demo Day where all participants will present their startups and products – some of them already launching. Here you can find a short outline of the seven chosen startups from Romania, Czech Republic, Kosovo/Albania, Serbia and Kazakhstan.

Evolso

Evolso is a dating app created by a Romanian team, which connects users by comparing favourite places and matching interests. Their product does not aim to be another service for various blind dates but gives the users a reason to meet by showing them what they have in common. There are also different features for men and women, with the function to notify persons they want to meet directly on the female side.

Famely

Czech startup Famely is a mobile magazine app, which collects information on and by people from different social networks and websites. This app claims to make it even easier to follow your favourite singer, musician or movie star and presents the details and stories you want and need in just one place.

Gjirafa

The startup Gjirafa is a web search engine and a news aggregator in Albanian. The language is spoken by several million people, so by using “natural language processing” algorithms, the team wants to improve the accessibility of this content and make news in Albanian more easily discoverable.

MyPrep

Czech mobile app MyPrep is a service for beating procrastination. It helps students to organise their workload in a playful manner and keeps track of their learning process. The result? Better exam results, the team claims. Who could ask for more? On 29 April the education software has launched as Hrave.cz.

SentiSquare

SentiSquare helps market managers to monitor their online and social media traffic. The Czech startup created a service that summarises comments from different places, and in different languages. It is aimed at users who want to connect with their clients and customers on a global level and stay up to date with their brand’s reputation.

Warrantly

Serbian startup Warrantly is a storage system for product warranties. By simply taking a picture of a product’s warranty or scanning the barcode, the service makes sure receipts don’t get lost and gives users the opportunity to check the status of their products. Through the information stored on the cloud service, retailers and manufacturers are held accountable for their product claim.

YourPlace

The team behind YourPlace comes from a tad outside of CEE. Kazakhstan, that is. Their app aims at users who want to find the best deals for their favourite places. By logging your favourite restaurants, bars or venues, the app will give you suggestions for bonus and reward programmes at your pubs and cafes. At the same time, the app connects places to people by suggesting which deals to generate for their customers.
