If you are involved in an academic research project, you should read closely because CAST Tyrol and transidee have opened the application window for the annual CAST technology award.
If you have an innovative business and product ideas, prototypes, laboratory tests or academic research papers with economic research potential from any field, you’re welcome to apply. “We are open for all ideas, no restrictions,” PR manager of CAST Bettina Wenko told inventures.eu. The deadline is 14 October.
Why you should apply
“We want to motivate researchers to think about the economic value of their research or technological developments,” said Christian Mathes, general manager of CAST. Do note that the application is for Tyrolean researchers only.
The five best applicants will get prize money to kick-start their project: The award winner will receive 3.000 euros, second best will go home with 1.500 and third with 800 euros. Fourth and fifth places will each receive 500 euros.
But there is more. The jury is not only going to evaluate the business ideas based on market and implementation potential but will also provide valuable feedback in form of a written assessment.
The technology award seems to haveturned into somewhat a tradition for CAST. “It’s been around since the start,” said Wenko. Successful alumni include superTEX, E-SEC, and AFreeze.
What you need to do
The application process is straightforward. Just fill out the “potential paper” and submit it here together with your research paper, which shouldn’t be longer than 20 pages and not older than two years.
The criteria for a good application include level of innovation and practicability, customer benefit, market potential and unique selling proposition.
