After last year’s success, Belgrade will yet again be the regional hotspot for entrepreneurs, innovators, investors, corporations and academia in Southeast Europe from 19-20 November. The Belgrade Venture Forum, organised by the Serbian Venture Network (SeVeN), aims to establish a business region that allows for development, better positioning and access to finance in SEE.
The competition
During the forum, more than 30 startups will get the chance to pitch their business ideas to international and national investors and business angels. If you are registered in a Southeast European country and work in ICT, life science, clean tech or renewable energy, you should apply here by 4 November. In 2012, 124 companies from nine countries applied for the competition so make sure to work hard on your submission.
The programme and speakers
During the two-day event speakers will discuss startup trends, products for healthcare, and renewable energy. Moreover, there will be talks about lean startups, women in startups and opportunities and challenges of cross border investment in the SEE region. The 23 speakers from the scene include Irina Dimitrova, CFO of LAUNCHub, partner in the first Serbian accelerator StartLabs Nebojsa Lazic, co-founder of TruckTrack Vukašin Stojkov, Ivan Rasic, CEO of CaseTrek, and Vladimir Defrančeski, Silicon Valley startup lawyer, Founder Institute.
So far, more than 300 participants and over 30 investors have registered for the conference, Aleksandar Bijelic, part of the organising team, told inventures.eu. Last year’s Venture Forum in Belgrade counted more than 350 participants.
About the Belgrade Venture Forum
The Belgrade Venture Forum is independently organised by SeVeN, and this coming month, it will host its second edition. The first time it ran was in November 2012, however under the brandBalkan Venture Forum (BkVF) in Belgrade.
Last year, the EU funds that usually support the organisation of the BkVF were not available for the Belgrade event, which is why the team had to raise the necessary amounts independently, Bijelic said. As a result of the positive feedback from the local and regional communities, the forum was put together again this year, just this time around, under the name Belgrade Venture Forum. For SeVeN the goal is to host the Belgrade Venture Forum on an annual basis.
