betapitch goes from local to global
betapitch | global, the big version of the local betapitch events that took place in Vienna, Hamburg, Sofia, among others, over the past months, is finally here. Well, there – in Berlin. The first and the second prize winners of all the local editions are going to pitch again this Saturday.
At every individual betapitch event, 10 local startups held five-minute presentations of their ideas in front of a jury. This was followed by a three-minute Q&A session by an expert panel, who then decided on the top two teams.
On 6 July, 10-14 startups will have the opportunity to compete against each other anew. Not all finalists have been announced yet but here’s a glimpse: Berlin-based Solarbrush is the first wireless robot that can clean solar panels, Bulgarian Farmhopping connects farms to urban people worldwide, and ZenGuard also from Germany allows users to surf the net securely. The winners of betapitch | Vienna were Flatout from Austria and Networker from Slovakia (read our report here). Further updates on who will be there are available onthe betapitch Facebook wall.
The prize
The winning team will travel to the co-working spaces in the betahaus network for six months. There, they will receive the mentoring and networking support they need to develop, test and improve their product. The final destination of their trip will be Silicon Valley where they will spend two weeks to get a better understanding of the US market, and how to enter it. They will also receive a cash prize of 10.000 euros and a trip to Paris. The decision about the winning startup will be again up to the jury members.
The competition is open to the public so if you want to enjoy the event as a guest, you still have the chance to get your tickets here. betapitch | global will take place in Berlin’s betahaus starting at 18:00 on 6 July.
