Budapest Bank Startup Competition reveals finalists
The search for CEE startups with high growth and success potential continues. This time, the action is taking place in Budapest. The Budapest Bank Startup Competition has announced its finalists who will compete against each other next week, on 2 May.
The Budapest Bank Startup Competition is looking to find teams with a scalable business or project. According to co-organiser Balázs Szabó of InVendor Investment and Innovation Ltd., more than 50 teams applied from sectors as diverse as “IT, education, biotech, food,” among others. Originally, the plan was to select the best six startups to compete at the final, however, two ended up with the same amount of points, which added up to a final seven. The focus is on companies who have had less than 150.000 euros of investment, and are addressing either consumer or business users.
Among the finalists are Content 2 Connect6 Kft., the first e-book aggregator in CEE, Brickflow, an app that lets you turn your media into stories, and Drungli, an adventure generator for – believe it or not – adventurous people. The complete list is available here.
The selectees will hold a 10-minute presentation of their business in front of a panel of investors and entrepreneurs. Among the judges will be Gil Penchina, ex-CEO at Wikia, Karoly Szigeti of Central Fund, serial entrepreneur and investor Marton Szoke, Gyula Fehér of Ustream, and Tim Röhrich of Pioneers Festival. The competition will take place on 2 May, the winners of which will be chosen on the same day. Among the prizes will be two tickets to the Pioneers Festival, mentorship, and exclusive media packages.
