Confidly: the winner of TSstartup
“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” So said Oscar Wilde. Working on the same context, Jelena Rašula and Matjaž Mrgole developed Confidly at the TSstartup business accelerator in Slovenia. Confidly is a mobile application and an anonymous friend.
Confidly placed first among the 11 contestants of TSstartup’s second batch of startups, and took home a 20.000-euro prize. Jelena Rašula and Matjaž Mrgole, the team behind the idea, developed a mobile application that users can confide in, anonymously. It offers them a safe environment to share what’s on their mind, and to get replies from other members of the community.
“TSstartup really helped us focus on our progress and move ahead full-speed. Also, it gave us a network of professionals we could turn to when we felt we’d reached a dead end,” said Rašula.
TSstartup provides participants with expertise and the necessary support to develop their business idea and enter the market in the telecommunications field.
“The premium value of TSstartup are the mentors, as they helped us move forward,” said Rašula. “We had to present out progress each Monday, and it involved answering a ton of questions.” The programme attracted 41 applications, which the committee, comprised of Sašo Savič, Simon Furlan, Aleš Spetič, Mark Pleško, and Marko Jaklič (see the full list of mentors here), whittled down through an interview process.
Τhe 11 most promising teams are now the second generation of TSstartup. Among them, Confidly took the first prize (20.000 euros), while Tee.LT placed second (10.000 euros).
“We are working on advancing our app and making it accessible to more users. The awarded money will allow us to focus on the idea and to monetise it,” said Rašula. If there were one piece of advice she would give to Slovenia’s up-and-coming entrepreneurs, it would be, “focus on success and don’t give up when it gets tough.”
