In the spotlight: Slovenia
Pozdravljeni Slovenija!
And welcome to everybody curious to find out more about the startup scene of our next-door neighbours!
Over the past month, we, at inventures.eu, have made sure to bring you the one or the other success stories out of Slovenia. Last week, we told you about Flaviar’s new investment, the week before – about ONDU’s successful Kickstarter campaign. We’ve covered Rails Girls Maribor, written about the PODIM conference, and compiled an overview of the startup ecosystem in general.
But we didn’t stop there. Together with our eyes and ears in the field, Urska Renier, we decided to dedicate an entire week to Slovenian entrepreneurship. We got in touch with some of the rising stars of the scene, interviewed a few of the already big names, and got insider views from “the locals”. To get a feel for it, here are some of the stand-out quotes we’ve collected along the way (we won’t tell you who said what just yet – we do want you to come back!).
Startup-talk:
“Finances are, for most people, like looking into the inside of a dead corpse: it’s dark, it’s frightening and you don’t want to be there. So, we’re trying to keep it light, shiny and fun.”
“The biggest companies usually have the biggest problems, as they do onboarding on a weekly basis. Our goal is to make this process as painless as possible.”
“Screw it, we can do this better.”
Investor-talk:
“Don’t even think of getting in touch if you’re not willing to drop everything and work like crazy to get to your goal.”
Insider-talk:
“Slovenian entrepreneurs see the world differently than your typical Slovenian does – those who are in front help those who are behind.”
