Taking place on 21-22 May at Sofia Event Center, DigitalK promises to gather some of the best and brightest in entrepreneurship in Bulgaria’s capital for two days of networking, speeches, fireside chats and a startup competition. After four successful editions, the 2015 DigitalK conference continues its growth. This year there will be a mix of speakers who will be attending the event for the first time and the “veterans” who delivered some of the most applauded speeches at last year’s event.
The lineup includes representatives of a number of big companies such as Google, IBM, Microsoft, MasterCard, SAP, Twitter and PayPal. Successful entrepreneurs from Rinkya.com, Zinc, 410Labs, local Siteground, Ballou PR, Thought Expansion Network and 500 startups will also take the stage over the two days. The event will be moderated by digital futurist Paul Papadimitriou, whose powerful speech on the digital future opened the 2014 conference too.

The programme includes speeches and panels on the hottest digital topics ranging from data visualization, through entrepreneurship lessons, to the future of payments and the workplace. Attendees will also have the chance to hear first-hand the story of Tradeshift Chairman Morten Lund,who has invested in over 100 startups, including Skype, declared bankruptcy in 2009 and bounced back up the next year. His speech on overcoming failure promises to be one of the highlights of Day One.Opening Day Two, Google CEE Country Manager, Goetz Trillhaas, will try to convince the audience that the company is still the world’s biggest startup.
More than just networking
While the programme itself is exciting enough, perhaps the biggest thrill for ten selected startups will be the parallel competition organized in cooperation with local seed fund LAUNCHub and Microsoft BizSpark. With over 20 investors and VC representatives among the competition jury and the speakers, the networking opportunities will be more than ample and not just for the startups taking part in the competition.
The yet-unannounced group of ten will be selected from the companies, which applied before 10 May. They will present at a smaller hall in front of representatives top venture capital funds and journalists in Europe. The top three companies will be invited to the big stage, where they will be grilled by Mike Butcher of TechCrunch Europe fame himself. From then on, for the winners, the sky will be the limit.
