Our office inlooks like…
SoundOut HQ, is one of the more creative ten square meter rooms in Vienna’s 15th district. Doubling as the Tall William studio, SoundOut materials compete for desk space with midi keys and microphones. On the wall hangs a signed Franz Ferdinand poster from 2008. There’s also a small sofa to relax.
The person that inspires us most…
It would be amiss not to mention Represent Map LA, a map for locating Startups in Los Angeles. They developed the base code we used as a framework for SoundOut. We’re also inspired by the growing music startup community in Vienna who have been totally supportive; Bam FM, RecordBird among others.
About our journey so far.

Before we started we were…
A working musician. I know how hard it can be to find rehearsal space, new places to play and record. SoundOut started as a private map to plot and document my own past concerts as well as potential future gigs. It was soon clear from feedback the tool had appeal as a public resource.
We received our initial capital through…
Playing concerts and Vienna music lovers puttingmoney in the hat themselves. SoundOut required minimal investment. The initial capital was earned in the bars and spaces that we now represent, and donated by the very people who use the service.
Our most difficult time so far was…
My initial vision of SoundOut was so elaborate and unworkable. I tried for a year to get it perfect for launch. Our first developer eventually stepped back from the project and it was tough to realise what our MVP actually was, find a new dev guy and just launch with a version I knew wasn’t perfect.
