Startup Highway opens Early Bird applications
As of earlier this month, Lithuanian accelerator Startup Highway has once again opened its window for startup applications. This time around, the team is starting out with Early Bird submissions, the deadline for which is 1 August. The batch-to-be-selected will be the accelerator’s fourth since its launch about two years ago.
Startup Highway’s 13-week programme offers startups funding of up to 14.000 euros each, as well as business advice, free working space, and some initial resources to start up, in exchange for 7.5% equity. (Read more about it here). Teams from all around the world are encouraged to apply as long as they are willing to stay in Lithuania for the duration of the programme. Along the way, the selectees will be guided by seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and experts – a list of whom is available here.
In 2011 and 2012, Startup Highway has accelerated a total of 10 entrepreneurial teams. Several of those have gone past the 13-week boost and on to expanding their own business. The “one-click e-commerce platform for self-publishers” Sellfy emerged from the accelerator’s first batch, and soon after secured an angel investment from (not exclusively) Skype co-founder Toivo Annus. (A complete list of Startup Highway’s teams can be found here).
Although the accelerator is already looking for new potential, it is still working with its current third batch of startups, whose programme started in May. The fourth 13-week session is planned to start in the first quarter of 2014.
