Due to current political changes in Austria, many startups claim to be waiting for money from AWS. Many of them handed in their applications for seedfinancing over half a year ago and still didn’t receive an answer. “At this time, we cannot payout the funding, nor can we ensure them to anyone. There are no legal contracts for that,” said AWS CEO Bernhard Sagmeister and added that this situation is rather a matter of temporal delay due to changes of ministers. The amount of the fundings range from 50.000 to 500.000 euros. According to Sagmeister, the approval for overall one to three million euros is still to be confirmed by the ministry of finance.
End of August, vice-chancellor and minister of finance Michael Spindelegger resigned from his offices. The ministry of finance, now with Hans Jörg Schelling as its minister, states that the delay is merely a matter of technical reasons and the money will be transferred soon.
