2014

It’s the end of the year, and – for better or worse, we have all spent time looking back on our achievements in the last 300-something days. But the end of December is also about new plans, wishes, and hopes. We therefore asked some of our most talked-about startups to share their expectations of 2014. Here’s what they had to say.

Diagnosia, Austria
“In 2014, we will be further enhancing our product portfolio with a more diverse portfolio. We’ll also be launching something rather unique and targeted towards women. Apart from that, we are in talks with various institutional partners interested in using our software on a large scale.

On our list is also expanding into the Netherlands where smartphone penetration among physicians is quite strong and we are seeing lots of interesting digital healthcare initiatives there.”

Flipps, Bulgaria
“This past year, the connected home became one of the most talked-about spaces for innovation. As we look to 2014, we will see mobile playing a central role in video discovery and playback control.

We plan to stay at the forefront by partnering with new premium content providers – bringing our viewers the best video content at their fingertips.  

In the coming year, we will be releasing a variety of exciting new content discovery features and refining the product so that every streaming experience is seamless. We will work hard to delight our viewers and achieve new levels of viewer engagement.”

Toshl, Slovenia
“In 2014 we’ll launch a major revamp of Toshl Finance and unleash even more of the Toshl monsters’ humour. We hope people will come back to the app for great content and stay for financial peace of mind.

With this in mind, we expect to at least double the number of people using Toshl in 2014.”

Strawberry energy, Serbia
“We see 2014 as a year of great opportunities. 

If all our current activities bear fruit, our public solar charger Strawberry Tree will take its root in the US and more cities in Europe; our portable solar charger Strawberry Mini Rural – in remote places in Africa, helping people without access to electricity. Our Strawberry Mini with touch screen will charge batteries of mobile devices of numerous visitors at worldwide events. We can say for ourselves that we are “lunatic adventurers” and we’ll keep it like that in 2014, too.

As Steve Jobs said: ‘The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do’.”

Helioz, Austria
“In 2014, we will focus on entering the Indian market as well as deliver WADIs to our global customers. Also, we want to attend conferences such as the Congress on Public Health to stress the economic advantages of WADI. And last but not least we don’t want Helioz to be considered a startup anymore but have a stable structure and realise already outlined products.” 

zoomsquare, Austria
“There are high expectations for us after such a launch.

First of all, there are quite some improvements we’ll have to do to our Beta. And secondly, we definitely have to bring zoomsquare into the app stores for smartphone.

But those are the basics. We will not stop innovating. Next year, we will extend zoomsquare into a premium product (with a freemium model) and significantly grow our user base in Austria. The whole team is more than excited about the next steps in turning zoomsquare from an idea to a real business.”
