Accelerating your startup with a view out to the mountains of Northern Italy does not sound all that bad, does it? Here comes your chance then. Italian accelerator TechPeaks has announced the call for its second class and encourages international applicants. The deadline is 20 January, so mark your calendars and don’t miss it!
Earlier this month, the first batch of startups attended the TechPeaks Demo Day in Trento.
TechPeaks is looking for those 18 and older, who have a background in IT, design or business, and who are willing to relocate to Trento for the duration of the four-month programme. Once the participants have been selected, the programme will begin at the end of March and culminate in the second Demo Day. Participants can expect to receive a monthly allowance of 700 euros, free accommodation and workspace, and support in obtaining a visa. Unique among accelerators is that TechPeaks does not take equity from participating startups. Instead, the accelerator offers non-equity grants to teams, which demonstrate promise based on competition and performance results at the end of the programme. In all, 500.000 euros is available to be awarded to the best-performing teams, according to the TechPeaks organisers.
Backed by 13 million euros in capital and run by Trento RISE, TechPeaks bills itself as a “people accelerator”. That is to say that although applicants are welcome to enter the programme with an idea for a company in mind, it is certainly not a prerequisite. Rather, the accelerator is looking for applicants, who have already developed skills or obtained experience in IT, design, or business in order to mould them into successful entrepreneurs.
Although based in Italy, the accelerator certainly maintains a CEE flair. From their previous class, about half of their 18 teams had a CEE connection, with countries like Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and Slovenia represented. So don’t miss your chance to be part of the next batch!
