Our one-line pitch is…
We’re improving healthcare with immediate information for doctors.
Introduce your team, and tell us one interesting thing about each member. We are…
A team of four with two doctors on board. Jure is our CTO, a doctor turned developer who used to write blog posts about spaceships. Nejc, our lead Android dev, the second doctor on the team, used to “dabble” in genetically engineered machines, and won first place with the Slovenian team at the IGEM competition at MIT. Marko, our lead iOS dev, is the most devoted Apple fan you’ll meet, and while a fantastic coder, he is most widely known for his infectious laughter that echoes around the halls of our office building. Blaž is our CEO and the most interesting thing about him is that he was able to get three people way smarter than him to do a startup together.
We received our initial capital through…
We bootstrapped for around a year and a half, and then received seed funding from LAUNCHub.
The real pain about starting a business in Slovenia is…
In Slovenia, starting a business is not that hard, the real pain comes after, when you start dealing with about a million business laws and bureaucratic processes, with new changes every few months. As they say, bureaucracy is a system that enables ten men to do the work of one.
The person that inspires us is and…
Limiting ourselves to popular inspirational figures, it would have to be Elon Musk. Most startups, us included, are trying to change industries; he creates them. And Steve Jobs for Marko.
The one app/service that we couldn’t live without is and…
Slack (honourable mention to HipChat, Slack’s predecessor as our main chat client). Having a great multiplatform communication tool is a lifesaver. Plus, it shows GIFs online. GIF battles are a staple of Friday evenings at the Mediately office.
Our ping pong table.
The worst piece of advice we ever got was…
“You should do this project for free, this reference in your portfolio will pay off amazingly well in the future.”
The one thing that will make us quit is…
Reaching the singularity. Robots will take over after that any way.
Our inside joke is…
“Good enough™.” Sometimes we spend a lot of time on minor details, perfecting a small part of the design or user interaction, and something that could be a one-minute decision turns into an one-hour discussion, as all the aspects are considered and perfected. After we’ve worn ourselves out, we look at each other, and say “It’s Good Enough™”.
You might not believe it, but we…
Once won first and second place at a 48-hour Health 2.0 hackathon in Berlin, by splitting into two teams. The 8.000 euros we won in those 48 hours is the reason we’re still alive as a company today.
We’ll call ourselves successful when…
Every doctor in the world can get access to any information he needs in his work in less than 10 seconds.
The startup we really want to see on inventures’ Startup Pick is…
Enolyse who are helping winemakers make great wine with their mobile connected sensor. It’s just very cool when someone brings high tech to very traditional industries. And everyone would benefit from more great wine.
