The simple tandem principle matches users according to learning goals and interests. Moreover, the service considers the location of its users in order to connect people online and in real life.
Bulgaria
Homework can be tough, especially if students did not really get what was going on in front of the blackboard. Ucha.se is a Bulgarian startup (read our startup pick here) that wants to support learning in and outside of the classroom. The service provides video lessons for school kids and wants to give them a better understanding of their subjects. With their service, ucha.se aims to allow a fast learning, whenever and wherever kids want to.
The Bulgarian startup LanguageBox provides online training courses for English. The service promises an independent learning schedule due to online lessons with real trainers and clear learning aids. Before one is able to use the online service, users will have to take a short test in order to determine their language level. LanguageBox claims to provide many features of a conventional language school and wants to support the learning process, just like in school.
Czech Republic
The Czech mobile app is an organisation tool for busy students. It uses elements of gamification to help users keep track of their hand-in deadlines and exam dates. Moreover, the service records the learning progress in order to keep usersmotivated. As a result, MyPrep promises the students better grades, when sticking to the plan.
Did you ever want to learn a language but felt a bit left alone during the process? SpaceTeacher is an online learning platform that aims to connect people who want to learn foreign languages. Their concept is: “You can learn anything when learning from each other”. The tool allows meeting learning buddies at on- and offline sessions.
Estonia
If you have a lot of motivation to learn but not much of a plan how to get started, 1Knows could be a tool for you. The Estonian startup created a customisable e-learning manager that promises to guide you during the learning process. 1Knows wants to broaden and deepen the users’ fields of interest by gamification and a lifelong learning approach.
You want to learn a language but don’t have a lot of time? The Estonian tool Lingvist aims to teach any language in 200 hours. The software provides small and personalised tasks for users and claims to optimise the learning process by constantly evaluating what the users already know and what still needs to be learned.
Lithuania
The Lithuanian startup bliu bliu (see our startup pick here) aims to make language learning as easy as possible. After answering questions that check your current language level, personalised articles and videos from the internet will be provided. With this content and a little help from the app, users should be enabled to learn a foreign language on their own.
Romania
Learning is not just for kids and students but can be considered a lifelong process. That is why the Romanian startup Forward Thinking created a platform for adult education. Users can interact with each other and make use of “knowledge cards” that are provided by experts. The platform uses the timesaving Pomodorro learning technique that promises to be quick and easy. The service is announced to launch soon.
Slovakia
Speekle provides a software for children and adults to improve their speech articulation. With entertaining exercises, users shall be motivated to learn about the correct pronunciation of single letters or longer words in a playful manner. Moreover, Speekle aims to tackle speech disorders “Because even one letter does matter”.
