Two Austrian startups announced their cooperation with the Vienna-based Life Ball, the biggest HIV and AIDS charity event in Europe. While Austro-American indoo.rs (along with blockhaus Vienna and StickNFind) provides a navigation app for the event, giveandstyle.com supports it with a charity share of their Life Ball branded phone covers.
Founded in 2013, the online phone-cover design service giveandstyle.com has created a limited phone protection edition for this year’s Life Ball. Founder Chrisoph Dechler talked to inventures.eu and explained that the startup “is based on a personal stroke of faith. My objection was to develop a concept that not only gives pleasure to the customers but also contributes to social development.” For every Life Ball phone cover sold, five euros are donated to AIDS LIFE. “We are very happy about the cooperation. It is important to have a trustworthy partner who uses our donations wisely,” Dechler added. With their customable and individually designable phone covers, the startup plans to expand further to Europe and the USA in the near future and wants to continue working with charity organisations. They cooperated with “Licht ins Dunkel”, “Licht für die Welt” und “Wiener Tierschutzverein” in the past.
Finding your way through Life Ball
Next to phone protection, also guidance is provided for the event in the Vienna City Hall. Austrian startup indoo.rs is a localisation service that aims to guide its users through the venues or public buildings. Together with blockhaus Vienna and StickNFind, they launched their special Life Ball app 2014. “For us as a startup it is a great chance to connect to such a successful event. The size and the atmosphere of the [Life Ball] is a great environment to present our technology,” Florian Freitag of indoor.rs explained. The mobile map allows displaying your personal position as well as navigating to various points of interest and works with GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth. Moreover, a style-bible as well as information around the event will be provided. “The Life Ball app 2014 is an up-to-date solution and special service for our guests who want to navigate through the venue quickly or wish to be informed about the upcoming programme highlights,” said Gery Keszler, organiser of Life Ball.
Life Ball was founded in 1992 and raises funds to support the fight against HIV and AIDS around the world. On Saturday, 31 May the Life Ball takes place for the 22nd time and is dedicated to the topic “Garden of Earthly Delights”.
