Web Summit Pick: Lingohub
Our one-line pitch is…
LingoIO is a cloud-based translation office (including billing, customer management and online profiles for translators) with third-party integration capability that makes it a human translation interface for any kind of digital content.
What are your expectations for the Web Summit?
We expect to get lots of great feedback on our business model and integration concepts, learn from others trying to solve similar problems in related industries and hope to get investors interested in what we aim to achieve.
What are your goals for the Web Summit?
We want to find potential integration partners for LingoIO, and investors interested in exploring opportunities in SaaS language technology.
What market do you wish to disrupt?
With our solution, translators no longer need to invest in regular CAT software, this market will move completely to the cloud (see also Adobe’s move from old-school software to SaaS-only). Our API makes human translation available to anyoneon-demand.
Why is the Advantage Austria Dublin mission to the Web Summit important?
This support makes it possible for Austrian startups like ours to enter in a dialogue with other entrepreneurs and investors from around the globe. It is important to show the innovative ideas we have.
Who is going from your startup and why?
Helmut (CEO, founder) to pitch LingoIO and find partners or investors, as well as Sebastian (communications, business development) and Michael (marketing).
Which speaker do you most want to hear at the Summit and why?
Kevin Rose of Google Ventures, because not much is known about Google’s European investment plans and what it means for the startup ecosystem. Their activities in the language technology field are of particular interest to us.
If you could choose an Austrian startup to win the Web Summit PITCH competition, which one would it be?
Of the others joining our trip, Firstbird seems to approach recruiting from an interesting angle. If we don’t win the pitch, we think they should – from an investment perspective this is a highly promising market.
